Valentine’s Day: A Gift of Mughals

Brahminical European invaders erased some of the most beautiful chapters from our history. They wrote fictional alternative history and we forgot the rich legacy of love and camaraderie left behind by Moola Nivasi Mughals.

Later years of the seventeenth century India. The Benevolent Dictator Alamgir Aurangzeb was ruling. A Hindu girl fell in love with a Muslim boy. They wanted to marry. But unfortunately the reactionary forces of Hindu extremists opposed the marriage and branded it Love Jihad.

The estranged lovers Mala and Akbar decided to kill themselves. That is when a brave Dravidian leader from Republic of South India came forward to help them. Velan Thiyyan, the Dravida hero was hugely inspired by Communist principles of Marx and preachings of Thanthai Periyar. Velan believed true love was beyond all barriers. He whisked the lovers away to his native place in Kerala and got them married under his protection. The love story of Mala and Akbar was honored by the people of North Kerala by naming the place Malabar. Old Mughal archive photograph of Velan Thiyyan can be seen.

Extremely pleased by the magnanimity of Velan Tiyyan, Aurangzeb chose to celebrate the day he helped the lovers as Velan Tiyyan’s day. All secular and peaceful people celebrated pure love on this day before the European invaders renamed Velan Tiyyan’s day as Valentines day.

The RSS and Bajrangdal people know this original history. That is the reason they oppose Valentines day celebration because they still believe it was Love Jihad.
